You have logs of mail server activity in
/var/log/maillog.  Quite often (though
*perhaps* not always) a look at the logs
will tell you why the mail was rejected.

Most likely, spammers with no reverse
DNS are being rejected, which is a default
Sendmail setting AFAIK.
