I wish Sean <sef@freeBSD.org> had never pointed me at 18 USC 2510 etc, all.

BPF, tcpdump, nstreams, and a ton of other stuff potentially make it illegal
to ``used, sent, carried, manufactured, assembled, possessed, sold or
advertised'' [The tense of the verbs need to be corrected] FreeBSD
that containts such ``electronic, mechanical, or other device.''

References: 18 USC 2510 (5), 18 USC 2513.

Though 18 USC 2510 (5) (a) may provide some releif in its use of the
wording ``in the ordinary course of its business.'' I don't think I
could really claim that BPF meets this criteria :-(.

Under the strictest letter of the law, BPF, etc all, is classified as
a ``wire tapping device'', and even possession of such ``devices'' can
result in some pretty health jail and legal fines. Up to 5 years and/or
$10,000 :-(

We have just removed BPF from all standard deployment kernel config files,
Sigh :-(.
