Hello, I just upgraded to 2.0.5R, and it's running quite nicely. I had a little bit of adjustment with the new install interface, but overall it was quite nice. I especially liked the ability to retry ftping!!! (Thanks for listening Jordan). My questions are about disklabel and boot code. I have a pretty oddball system, with 1 IDE drive and 2 SCSI-2 drives. FreeBSD owns the 2 SCSI-2 drives, and DOS/Windows/OS/2 owns the IDE drive. I always have to write out new boot code so I don't have to type that annoying hd(1,a)/kernel all the dang time. In the past, I did this by rebuilding sysinstall after hacking the bootblock code and then using that because disklabel complained about the label that sysinstall installed and wouldn't let me write out boot code. I couldn't do this with sysinstall this time, since the writing of bootblocks requires committing an install of FreeBSD, or some package. That is, that's the only way I could see it get done. So I went back to disklabel, and found it was complaining that the size of the superblock in the label was 0. Now, since sysinstall installed the label, I'm assuming that this is a problem with sysinstall. Either that, or the superblock error should be a warning. I turned off the check temporarily so I could install new bootcode with hd(1,a)/kernel as my default response. This worked fine. So now for my questions. Is sysinstall installing a broken label? Or is disklabel being overly concerned about the superblock being size 0?
