Sender: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG I have a Freebsd 3.4 box sitting in the rack, and im trying to get a remote x proggie to work on it, namely xwin32. I've hit a block and don't exactly know what to try next. I am running xdm, and with a XDMCP broadcast, it finds it, and can even give me a xlogin window, except that when i log in, it dies. I am authorized as an xhost and i dont see any blatant error in xdm-errors, however, if I run xdm with a debug level here is the output: [i snipped the initial connection messages, this is the output from after the xlogin window and i have hit return with the correct password] Verify sauron ... verify succeeded user environment: DISPLAY=inventory2:0 HOME=/home/sauron LOGNAME=sauron USER=sauron PATH=/bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/gnu/bin:/usr/loca l/bin SHELL=/bin/bash system environment: DISPLAY=inventory2:0 HOME=/home/sauron USER=sauron LOGNAME=sauron PATH=/bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/X11R6/bin SHELL=/bin/sh XAUTHORITY=/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/authdir/authfiles/Ainventory2:0-mC1048 end of environments Unsecure display inventory2:0 Greet connection closed Greet loop finished StartSession /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/Xsession: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/Xsession ; DISPLAY=inventory2:0 HOME=/home/sauron LOGNAME=sauron USER=sauron PATH=/bin:/usr /bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/gnu/bin:/usr/local/bin SHELL=/bin/bash StartSession, fork succeeded 1067 SetUserAuthorization Client Started XauLockAuth /home/sauron/.Xauthority Lock is 0 opens succeeded /home/sauron/.Xauthority /home/sauron/.Xauthority-n 1 authorization protocols for inventory2:0 writeRemoteAuth: inventory2:0 MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 setAuthNumber inventory2:0 setAuthNumber: 0 ConvertAddr returning 0 for family 2 writeRemoteAuth: family 0 writeRemoteAuth: 0, 4, a57c32c8 writeAddr: writing and saving an entry new is in place, go for it! done SetUserAuthorization executing session /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/Xsession Source reset program RemoveUserAuthorization XauLockAuth /home/sauron/.Xauthority Lock is 0 opens succeeded /home/sauron/.Xauthority /home/sauron/.Xauthority-n writeRemoteAuth: inventory2:0 MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 setAuthNumber inventory2:0 setAuthNumber: 0 ConvertAddr returning 0 for family 2 writeRemoteAuth: family 0 writeRemoteAuth: 0, 4, a57c32c8 writeAddr: writing and saving an entry new is in place, go for it!
