Hello Albert,

I won't give you any more reasons, because by looking at the list you've
probably already had about 100. But, maybe your advisor is keen on sticking
with WinNT because that's all he knows. If you are new to unix (Im not
saying you are), then FreeBSD (or any other unix) may not 'hold your hand'
as much as WinNT.

In my opinion, the only advantage that win95/98/NT has over FreeBSD is the
quality of the 'office' software. (word, excel etc). We do have staroffice,
which is very good, (and free for non-commercial use), but I don't think it
has the edge over Micro$oft yet. It may do in the future though. Of course,
this is irrelevant for a server machine. 

Do you know about the excellent Samba package? We use it exclusively here at
work for all our file and print sharing (albeit running under SunOS). Have a
look at <http://samba.anu.edu.au>.
