I was forced to switch to psm0 from sysmouse after updating ports on my home workstation yesterday. I had previously updated them a week or two ago, I don't recall the exact timeframe. Things had been working fine up until this update. My system is 6.3-STABLE and has not been updated for a couple months. FreeBSD 6.3-STABLE FreeBSD 6.3-STABLE #0: Sat Jan 26 09:05:28 EST 2008 Athlon XP 2400+ KDE 3.5.8 ATI Radeon 9600 Pro (RV350) xf86-video-ati-6.8.0_1 ("radeon") driver PS/2 Mouse, Logitech Trackman Marble connected via Linksys 2-port KVM psm0: <PS/2 Mouse> irq 12 on atkbdc0 psm0: [GIANT-LOCKED] psm0: model IntelliMouse Explorer, device ID 4 System had KVM focus on reboot. I've had systems on other KVMs exhibit similar weirdness when they were booted without being the active system on the KVM, in this case it made no difference. I'm also using HAL and DBUS. I was using polkitd, but it seems to have disappeared since this update. I had to do pkgdb -F a couple times to straighten out the dependencies. It previously had policykit-0.1.20060514_4, now it has 0.7_3. hal-0.5.11.r2_4 policykit-0.7_3 xorg-7.3_1 I do have some Gnome bits installed, but not the whole thing, mainly libraries that get pulled in as dependencies. I also noticed that some clicks register 2-3 times instead of once. If I click on a titlebar, the window will collapse into a shade as if I double clicked the titlebar only once. Clicking inside a terminal window produces unpredictable selection results. Changing to psm0 restored the previous working behavior and the system seemed to load a lot faster and seems a lot more responsive. (That could just be my perception, though, not an accurate measurement) I suppose I could take the plunge and upgrade the system to 7.0 to see if that makes any difference. Jim
