: Has anyone every tried to cross compile the FreeBSD kernel or maybe even
: make world ? For example on a SGI system ?

That's going to be hard, as I'm not sure that ld is cross compilable
in the FreeBSD distribution, and the ld in binutils doesn't support
FreeBSD.
