Sender is used when the person sending the message is different than the From header. Given the amount of flack Netscape took for making it trivial to forge email, that they now notice the sender and from mailbox being different and add a sender can be considered DTRT. > Jim Weeks wrote: > > > Since there was some confusion on this question when it was originally > > submitted, I will try it again. Some MTA's have a problem with this. The only time this should case a problem is if mail to Sender: doesn't get back to you at all. <mike > > Here is an example of the header in question. > > > > Sender: jim@earthlink.net > > Message-ID: <3AAE41A8.E2F26ECB@siteplus.com> > > Date: Tue, 13 Mar 2001 10:50:01 -0500 > > From: Jim Weeks <jim@siteplus.com> > > X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.74 [en] (X11; U; Linux 2.2.12 i386) > > X-Accept-Language: en > > MIME-Version: 1.0 > > To: Jim@siteplus.com > > > > Any ideas? > > > > Thanks, > > > > Jim > > > > To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org > > with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message > > > To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org > with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message > -- Mike Meyer <mwm@mired.org> http://www.mired.org/home/mwm/ Independent WWW/Perforce/FreeBSD/Unix consultant, email for more information.
