You are the only one that can do the chosing. You know whether you have a i386 (Intel or AMD), alpha, or etc. See ftp://ftp.FreeBSD.org/pub/FreeBSD/ISO-IMAGES-i386 Since you have problems at this point, it is probably safe to suggest that you deal with only the 4.x version. For starters, you only need to download the first iso. When you burn it onto a CD-ROM, you have to use the burn as an image option. All CD burners will do this. It is just difficult on some of them to find out how. Most of the ones I am familiar with will put you into the right spot if you double click the iso from a file manger.
