That little bit of info, as you suggested (in a bit I trimmed), basically opens up the playing field to a *LOT* of cameras. It looks like I need to upgrade to FreeBSD 4.1.2 (actually, a friend downloaded the latest stable release---all four or five CDs worth---and is burning CDs for me, so I'll go beyond 4.1.2), but still...that was the perfect answer to my question.... I wasn't expecting something so simple (that comes from lack of knowledge of what's out there for digital camera media). :-) Again, many thanks.
