They will /all/ require recompilation unless: (1) they're already compiled
for FreeBSD or (2) you're emulating a system (e.g. Linux) that they're
already compiled for. This is true for "everything", X or not, with
the exception of interpreted languages like perl, java or [shudder] basic.
On the good side, these apps typically configure and compile on F'bsd
with a minimum of fuss. for the standard ones, /no fuss at all/.
Building these things out of the ports collection is /really/ painless.
