This question is considered highly religious even.

But let's try to keep it objective:

FreeBSD has Linux emulation so a lot of Linux only packages can run on
FreeBSD.

I myself find FreeBSD a better integrated whole than any distribution of
Linux. The same goes for the sources and the people who write these
sources, I find them more competent not only on the programming issue but
they also have to maintain a very stable whole.

I'm a little unsure how Linux' NFS and VM are nowadays, but I know that
FreeBSD just made a tremendous number of changes in this aspect, all for
the better.

If ye are still in doubt, try both. I did, I stuck with *BSD.
