On the box on which I'm running netsaint, I'm seeing these messages appearing on my screen (not the console, my ssh session; and no, I'm not ssh'ing as root, nor have I used su to become root): [dan@xeon:~] $ /home/dan/.mail_aliases: Permission denied /home/dan/.mail_aliases: Permission denied /home/dan/.mail_aliases: Permission denied /home/dan/.mail_aliases: Permission denied /home/dan/.mail_aliases: Permission denied /home/dan/.mail_aliases: Permission denied /home/dan/.mail_aliases: Permission denied etc... I think these messages appear when netsaint is sending out notifications. But I don't know why it's trying to access .mail_aliases. I guess I could do a chmod o+r .mail_aliases, but I'm not convinced that is a good thing. clues? -- Dan Langille - DVL Software Limited The FreeBSD Diary - http://freebsddiary.org/ - practical examples To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
