Yes - there is some idle timeout somewhere with the official FreeBSD svn servers, which is too short for those super high write times with SD cards. But annoyingly svn not just terminates instead of reconnecting - it leaves the workdirectory in an unclean state requiring an svn cleanup rung, which by itself can be ultra slow on SD cards.
