Hi List(s),

I ran into some issues with FreeBSD 5.3 crashing on heavy read/writes while
using a Tyan Thunder K8SR motherboard with SCSI support. Here is a screen shot
of the lock up:

I wrote to Tyan and one of their tech's replied with the note below:

"I've looked on the Adaptec website and I can't find any
"listing that states that the Adaptec 7902 supports any
"version of FreeBSD. We haven't test this OS with any of
"the boards that have this chipset so we could not
"make any comments about what you are seeing directly."

I returned the server to our hardware vendor and they said that it was a
defective motherboard and that they were able to load up 40 other machines with
FreeBSD 5.3 fine. They are sending another server to me for testing.

In the meantime, I was trying to confirm the Adaptec 7902 chipset used on the
Tyan board is fully supported in FreeBSD AMD64. Does anyone know off hand? I
checked i386 and did not see anything directly stating 7902. Unfortunately, I
do not have an AMD machine here at the moment, so I can't check the Kernel
config file.

  Does anyone know off hand?

Thanks!

Ray
