On smaller networks I use the UNIX password file and just switch on unencrypted passwords on the Windows clients. When you have 12-15 people in the office, and the server is in an unlocked broom closet, your kidding yourself if you think that encrypting passwords on the wire will do anything whatsoever to increase your data security.
