Confirmed here also. The machine had been consistent in the slow loader
countdown with two different Dell keyboard/mouse combos, one using an
internal hub (mouse plugged into keyboard hub) and one with each plugged
separately into the Pi. With neither connected countdown rate is normal.
There is, of course, always a serial console. 

Is there a workaround for the cpu_rest failed error other than pulling
the plug? I tried "step" just to see what happens. The machine emitted 
one unprintable character and locked up tight.
