I'm unsure why it does on my side, I'll have to d= ig into that, but yeah, this might only apply to me. Feel free to close this PR, and sorry that some edge case I hit brought this up. I see there is an update to v3.1 pending in PR269391, which comes with configure flags like --enable-notify to build a notification service, or --enable-palaver for some palaver quirk support, etc.. Although not part of that PR, it might make sense to expose that as ports config options in the future, which would then need to run ./configure.
