I still use the same desktop and window manager I have for the past 8 years (which means not GNOME or KDE) so I'm not giving favors to either -- but we cannot ignore that these are the two most popular desktops today. W/o the added functionality those two give over my own CTWM, we cannot attract and please those of the M$ generation.
