The problem with vim is one I can fix by changing the install.sh script it comes with by forcing it to link against the X11 library. For some reason it does not pick up that it's required: $ gvim /usr/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libXThrStub.XmbResetIC" not found The other two are executing `mkdir /' at install time.
