You need to configure the keymap according to the language
you want to use. The installer (issue "bsdinstall" command)
can also do it. You probably will choose german layout if
the device has a german keyboard.

What "extra" keys do you think you need inside the installer?
Characters and numbers should be sufficient. :-)

On the US keyboard layout (the system's default), Y and Z
are swapped, i. e. QWERTZ = QWERTY, YXCVBNM = ZXCVBNM.
Press Z if you want to have a Y.
