I don't know what the result of this is (I only have the dmesg output at hand w/o rebooting), but this is the dmesg output: wdc1 at 0x170-0x177 irq 15 flags 0xa0ffa0ff on isa wdc1: unit 0 (wd2): , DMA, 32-bit, multi-block-16 wd2: 12970MB (26563824 sectors), 26353 cyls, 16 heads, 63 S/T, 512 B/S Why would setting this to 'NORMAL' make a difference to these transient lockups?
