Then again, it might be worth considering the possibility of using "industry standard" benchmarks - if indeed there are any that are relevant. e.g. http://www.unixsolutions.hp.com/products/servers/lclass/performance.html (I've never seen or used one of these myself, maybe out of the range ?)
