i followed the upgrade instructions here:

# pkgdb -F
# portupgrade -a
since i was using 2.12.1, wanted to update... I noticed a good few  
things failed and ended up with gnome not working as well as before..
some apps just wouldnt load - if i went to desktop -> admin ->  
anything in here, the app opens but a dialog saying i entered the  
wrong password always popped up.

I am currently running the gnome_upgrade.sh script to rebuild  
everything and see if it resolves my problems..
once complete i will post of report on how it went...
