Also, I want to say something that's been on my mind since the large IDE drive problem first came about, and I was told that it wasn't going to be fixed. I've always been a FreeBSD fan, both because of the philosophy and for technical reasons, and I convinced my employer to go with a FreeBSD solution for their internet firewall as as a backup machine for a network of SCO OpenServer servers. My arguments which won them over were based both on cost and on the amount of functionality that FreeBSD provides. But when it came time to install these two 34 gig drives, and I had a problem, I felt sure it was just me, and I could get to a solution, but I've come to find out that it isn't apparently going to be fixed prior to a completely new ATA driver, which I've also been told isn't being recommended for general production use because it's a .0 release. Needless to say, when I was honest with my superiors and explained that it was a bug I didn't know about, that I posted it to the development groups, and that I was told they weren't going to fix it, FreeBSD didn't get a big boost around here, and neither did I, frankly. I'm over it, I think, and I know I'm an adult and have to be responsible for my own actions, but I really had a greater amount of faith than has been bourne out here. I'm resolving to be more careful with my recommendations, even if I want FreeBSD to be successful, and I do. Please believe me when I say that I sincerely wish that I had both the talent and the time to fix it myself, but I honestly don't have any idea why this is happening or how to go about fixing it. I'm sorry if this seems bitchy, I just had to get it out. Thanks for listening.
