Over this last weekend I tried to install FreeBSD on my home pc. I was
able to go through all of the initial set-up without a hitch. But when it
came to actually downloading FreeBSD, the installation program would lock
up. I know that it must be the installation program because I have an
external modem and I would watch the send and recieve LEDs on it during
the download. When installation would lock up, I would still be connected
to my ISP but no information would be being sent through the modem.
I tried several times to install using FTP in both active and passive mode
but it would always lock up after downloading anywhere between 200K and
2M.
The last several times I tried to install, I set on the debugging
information in vty2 to high. The last thing to appear in the debugging
terminal each time, was the message:
"Opening BINARY mode data connection for bin/bin.ag (240640 bytes)."
^^
^^
THIS would be different
each time, but the message would be the same otherwise.
I was using PPP(no ethernet card, just a modem). Any ideas on what the
problem might be? I really want to install FreeBSD...
Glen
