The built-in functionality doesn't exist. Might I recommend that you tweak the script to 1) work on FreeBSD and 2) follow the practices of /etc/defaults/periodic.conf, then add daily_root_backup to /etc/defaults/periodic.conf and submit a PR with a patch consisting of the diff to /etc/defaults/periodic.conf and the tweaked script? That would get you functionality now, and make it easy for someone it to find it's way into the base system at some point in the future. I'd certainly like to see that done. thanx, http://www.mired.org/home/mwm/ Independent WWW/Perforce/FreeBSD/Unix consultant, email for more information.
