For the most part I managed to solve my probs, but I was just curious about the FreeBSD ports. I thought that when I installed the ports collection, it would supply me w/ everything needed to get them working, but I guess, they only supply the skeleton? I guess I thought this was kind of weird, but what seemed weirder, is when I went to get the tarballs for these ports from the freebsd website, and it only took me to an ftp site that had the same files (Makefile, pkglist, pkgdescr, etc) that the ports collection installed. In order to get the tarballs, I actually had to go to google.com and search where to download the tarballs from. Can any one offer some insight into this, or am I just going about making the applications in a weird way? I'd also like to thank David, Mike and Joshua for your help in getting my probs w/ my cdrom and floppy drive straightened out. It turns out, that I was making little mistakes all along. But I've figured them out and have even. ~ Desmond To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-newbies" in the body of the message
