But their not :( I run a Line tester and the SENDS go off fine, I get no
collisions or and errors when I try from both machines. I can remove the line at
the other end of the line and I start getting errors, So I know the packets are
making it to the cards ok, I just don't get any RECIEVED counts, I take that
back , out of 300+ send I did get 5 packets returned.

Yes on boot up it finds both cards just fine at address 300 IRQ5 on both cards.

I changed it to NO ,still same problem

I set route_enable=NO , but don't I need the GATEWAY enabled to allow the other
machine to see the Internet ?
