Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG I'm curious if anyone has run into this situation.. I'm migrating from a Solaris 2.6 system to Freebsd 3.2 for our nfs server. We have 8,700+ accounts which will be moved. The user dirs will be on an external raid5 array, using the bsd box to serve nfs to our web, mail, and shell servers. Situation currently works stable (however very slow) using our Sun Netra as a non raid based nfs server. So the problem I have is after writing a quick perl script to convert the solaris passwd/shadow file to bsd format and running pwd_mkdb, initially I ran out of disk space on the root partition. Easy to fix. However the time to recompile the db is over a minute with this large a user base. This presents a problem where if I have more than one of my phone reps adding a user or one of my dealers adding a user at the same time...I could have it run pwd_mkdb every 10/15 mins if the passwd file has been altered..but thats a bit sloppy. Anyone else have any thoughts on this? Also, if you could cc: me on any replies as I'm not currently on the list.
