Also FYI.

On my Shuttle AK35GTR (Version 1), when I turn on ACPI in the
_latest_ BIOS version available I see something like:

ffs_ufs: died with signal 8

on boot and the kernel then hangs. I _must_ turn off ACPI with FreeBSD,
although it works with Windows XP.
