Can I create a new floppy with the custom kernel? If you're having trouble with this, it's a PC BIOS limitation. You might try something like System Commander or Partition Magic that has a pretty in-depth boot manager, which might be able to read the disk directly instead of using the BIOS services. You might try upgrading your BIOS, if possible.
