I think I buried the actual problem in text, so to make things easier on
somebody when/if they read this.

On FreeBSD, AACS does not get a "VID" from the disc.

It needs that to calculate a "VUK", which is used to read the actual
content/play a movie.

This fails to happen even if all the information needed to get it is provid=
ed,
because it doesn't open a file on the disc.

What I think is intended to happen, is the file on the disk is opened, the =
VID
is read and the VUK calculated using it.
