Not sure if it's a solution to the OP's case, but I just ran into to this i=
ssue
with my AMD Phenom. Some digging on the web revealed that the core unlock
feature in some BIOS's could cause the temperatures to not be properly
reported. Disabling Core Unlock, in my case, corrected the issue. HTH.
