The Brooktree video capture board writes data directly to the video card's
framebuffer through a PCI-PCI transfer.  It runs independently of XFree
updates.  the frame rate is somewhat dependent on how fast your machine
can truck PCI data around and how long it takes the video card to redraw
the display.
