I have had this drive alone on the primary IDE channel and also configured as a primary master with a rather old 400MB Conner. It has always been detected properly; I am currently using the drive with the GENERIC 2.2.7-RELEASE kernel, only because the box it's on just runs an X server. dmesg output: wdc0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7 irq 14 on isa wdc0: unit 0 (wd0): wd0: 3815MB (7814016 sectors), 7752 cyls, 16 heads, 63 S/T, 512 B/S The best way to rule out 'special' jumper settings is to revert to factory default and try it. -- Allen Campbell | Lurking at the bottom of the allenc@verinet.com | gravity well, getting old.
