As I explained below, the problem is with FBSD 5.X (all > the way to CURRENT), where I'm seeing the speeds drop from what they were > in 4.x to around 180KBytes/sec (or 1.4mbit/sec). Hmmm... well that might explain why my Bacula backup yesterday morning over wi0 was only getting 180KBytes/sec. I thought that was really odd. Moving to 10/100 with fxp driver instantly gave me 1226.4 KB/s (9.58mbit/sec) with the exact same config. Granted, 9.58mbit/s isn't real great either, but at that point I'm being limited by my laptop's CPU because my bacula file daemon is configured to gzip the data before sending it over the wire. wi0: mem 0xf0000000-0xf0000fff irq 9 at device 2.0 on pci2 wi0: 802.11 address: 00:20:e0:8a:90:61 wi0: using RF:PRISM2.5 MAC:ISL3874A(Mini-PCI) wi0: Intersil Firmware: Primary (1.1.1), Station (1.7.4) wi0: 11b rates: 1Mbps 2Mbps 5.5Mbps 11Mbps I had originally chalked it up to the fact that I run 104-bit WEP, but now I'm thinking that it's wi's fault. -- Jesse Guardiani, Systems Administrator WingNET Internet Services, P.O.
