FreeBSD is not OpenBSD.  Try asking on an OpenBSD support forum.

However, do you really want adaptive Huffman encoding specifically?
The compress(1) manpage suggests it is inferior even to the
compression algorithm used by compress, which is itself substantially
inferior to other modern compression algorithms.
