OSHA is bringing additional inspectors to conduct proactive inspections of construction sites. Additionally, ongoing inspections will continue under existing local emphasis programs, or as a result of complaints, referrals = or accidents. "There is no one - among regulators, employers, employees, unions and = trade associations - who will accept these lost lives as the byproduct of work = in a dangerous industry," said Louis Ricca Jr. OSHA's regional administrator. OSHA operates a vigorous enforcement program, conducting more than 39,000 inspections in fiscal year 2007 and exceeding its inspection goals in each = of the last eight years. In fiscal year 2007, OSHA found nearly 89,000 = violations of its standards and regulations. New standards were effective in March and more are scheduled in August & November 08 and even more in 2009. These standards include Training, Signage & Safety Programs.
