I think it'd do both FreeBSD & consultant individuals & firms some good to have a similar index available, but I don't think we have one yet, at least not in /usr/share/doc/handbook/ or /usr/share/doc/FAQ/freebsd-faq.html I'd prefer it be incorporated in the official mirrored FreeBSD web pages, & on the CD-ROM, but if necessary I could kick it off initially till it gained weight, under my personal web directory somewhere, rather like I do for my gallery of developers faces: http://www.freebsd.org/~jhs/freebsd_people.html If of course webmaster or doc team take up this project, they get to choose index format, but if they're too busy, I'll do it, & I'll prime index it by Geography, for instance I will appear as: Germany/Munich/Stacey or maybe Germany/Munich/Vector (my company) or probably best: +49.89.268616 (phone enquiry number) for despite the theory of Internet global working, lots of customers like to look their consultant physically in the face, at least occasionally, & lots of customers don't even have Internet access, just a CD-ROM, a budget, & some problems to solve :-). Who should compile the index ? Where should it go ? This index concerns commercial@, but would be administered by doc@ perhaps, so I hope I won't be roasted for having cross posted this: To: commerical@freebsd.org bcc: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org, bsd-serious@freebsd.org (& Yup I just checked 'domo, both commerical@ & bsd-serious@ exist, but I'm not sure if I'm still on both, (not very active lists if so), so I just sent off a subscribe to both) Julian --- Julian H.
