There should be a health warning about doing cvsup upgrades unless you are psychic about userland stuff and know how to carry out a post-mortem on a nested makefile. The 2.2.2 release has big changes to systems admin from 2.2.1. /etc/sysconfig has gone, to be replaced by /etc/rc.conf. A new config has been introduced for login which sprays your logfile (and console) with warnings unless you use it. 2.2.2 likes to look in /usr/local/etc/rc.d for supplementary startup files. Ports to 2.2.2 like to put their config files in /usr/local/etc rather than, e.g., /usr/local/samba/lib. cvsup will only update your runtimes, and doesn't address any of this stuff. A reinstall also gets you more up-to-date docs. A couple of FreeBSDers on the chat list have recently been somewhat scathing about non-experts keeping up to date with cvsup (whatever the web page might say). I would recommend that you stick with us plebs for now, and do a full upgrade. 2.2.2 is definitely worth the trouble.
