It seems like it should be possible to use truncate/ftruncate/
posix_fallocate or something to recreate the hole, for testing, but my=20
current hurdle is zdb balking with:

zdb failed to hold dataset 'tank/ROOT/default': No such file or directory

I'd love to see before-and-after data like what Kyle noted in comment 10,
but I'm flailing a bit. I'd be grateful for pointers. (I've tried
making the cache file explicit to no avail.)
