I think that more than just FreeBSD experts could participate in a program
such as this. I was thinking that all that is really required is somthing
to get people on to their feet, offering guidance in areas that even
a novice is quite familiar with.

After reading some of the posts lately, there seems to be a bit of confusion
on some of the basics (i.e. I seem to remember a post with regards to someone
not being able to figure out how to use thier cdrom etc.). This stuff is
not rocket science, and thus does not require the attention of an expert,
but is still quite foreign to someone who may be coming straight from a
Microsoft environment. I think that as more and more people hear about
free operating systems, there will be more people using FreeBSD who have
absolutely no experience with UNIX whatsoever.

I thought that a short term mentor program might be a good idea, but there
are defenitely other ways to accomplish this, such as with beginner level
documentation. If people were interested in a mentoring type of thing,
there is no reason that anyone couldn't be a mentor, as long as you are
within your comfort zone.
