DBD::cego fails to compile with DBI > 1.622 with the error

./Cego.xsi:96: error: invalid conversion from 'const char*' to 'char*'
./Cego.xsi:97: error: invalid conversion from 'const char*' to 'char*'
The real problem seems to be in DBI.
