I've got an AlphaServer 1200 with 2 533 CPUs in it. I installed the latest version of SRM and was not able to get it to boot from disk. I hear that the fdd boot does not work properly. I downloaded boot.flp (the 2.88mb version). I put the boot drive in another system and ran: dd if=boot.flp of=/dev/da1 Which should have copied the image to the disk. I put the disk back into the AS1200 and here is what it said when I tried to boot from it: AlphaServer 1200 Console V5.9-5, 8-JAN-2001 10:05:24 CPU 0 booting (boot dka600.6.0.1.1 -flags 0) block 0 of dka600.6.0.1.1 is a valid boot block reading 15 blocks from dka600.6.0.1.1 bootstrap code read in Building FRU table base = 200000, image_start = 0, image_bytes = 1e00 initializing HWRPB at 2000 initializing page table at 1f2000 initializing machine state setting affinity to the primary CPU jumping to bootstrap code Loading /boot/loader Console: SRM firmware console VMS PAL rev: 0x4000200010115 OSF PAL rev: 0x4000200020117 Switch to OSF PAL code succeeded.
