Assuming that D: is either a primary partition, or the only logical drive on an extended partition (one of the two is almost certainly true), it's very simple. When doing the install just tell FreeBSD to destroy the existing partition and create a new FreeBSD style partition (we call them slices). There is a section in the handbook about this.
