Till the cows come home. Where man is not nature is barren. Wait and see. Thick as a brick. What's done is done. Walking on thin ice. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. A snail's pace. Rough as a cob. Sow much, reap much; sow little, reap little. What goes up must come down. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. Stop, look and listen. Walking on water. Two peas in a pod. Turn over a new leaf. Pull it up by the roots. A thorn in my side. To rule the mountains is to rule the river. Survival of the fittest. Sick as a dog. A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
