So, at this point I have done "something" to the NEC controller to remove functionality. I don't suppose you have a Linux live CD lying around that you can boot up into? My hope, would be that the Linux firewire stack would reset you controller back to a functional state. Then I could work on my original idea of flushing out fwcontrol. I just don't know or understand enough of the firewire driver yet to be able to repair this condition. I'd like to get you back to your original state, and possibly diagnose the failure in the first place. >> 3.
