The issue you need to research is PPP. Hopefully a modem user will help
you here shortly. Once you get the modem working you will see some of the
configuration things fall into place.

The term "final configuration" is not quite useful in this context. The
boot floppy (once you get PPP working) will leave you with a fully
functioning FreeBSD operating system.

You need to do _nothing_ else.

That is, you need to do nothing else if there is nothing that you want to
do. :)

Your next step will probably be to install some software. Maybe you want
to install pine/pico for email and text editing. Maybe you want to install
netscape navigator or star office. If you are really motivated you may
compile your first custom kernel.
