Small is > beautiful. At the very least, make the stuff optional to install. I don't think anyone was talking about a mandatory install. If they were, they're insane. A single 14 point X font is in the neighborhood of 1M without even considering Tamil, Devangari, Hebrew, Arabic, or other ligatured languages that because of design flaws in the encoding standards require a lot of work or non-fixed cell rendering technology.
